Goblin King Jareth

(to the tune of Good King Wenceslas)

Goblin King Jareth looked out
On a winter's evening
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and freezing
Brightly shone the moon that night
Made the snow look pretty
When a young girl came in sight
Heading for the city

"Hither, goblin, stand by me
If thou knowst it telling
Yonder maiden, who is she?
Where and what her dwelling"
"Sire, she lives a good league hence
The humans dimension
A Listian, off the Internet
That strange new invention"

"Bring my gloves and bring my cape
Bring my pendant hither
It's too cold to wear my tights
Better bring some leather"
King and goblin forth they went
Forth they went together
(What a nice Christmas present-
Jareth dressed in leather!)

"Sire, the snow is deeper now
Right up to my nose
Icicles hang from my brow
I can't feel my toes"
"Bugger this" his Highness said
"I don't want to freeze
Back to the castle instead
I'll find someone else to tease"

Back to the castle they went
Found some egg nog to sip
Never heard the girl's lament
As she slowly froze stiff
Therefore mortal maids beware
When you make your wishes
Goblin kings, they may seem fair
But they can be vicious
